Start with the route that matches your education
Requirements depend on where you trained and your qualifications. Use Socialstyrelsen’s guidance for doctors educated within the EU/EEA or doctors educated outside the EU/EEA. A speaker’s experience is useful context, but it does not replace an individual assessment or the authority’s requirements.

Part 1: Getting oriented
This recorded introduction covers the Swedish healthcare system, qualification and language questions, licensing routes, job applications, relocation and workplace communication. It includes experiences from doctors who have worked through the process. Treat the discussion of AT, BT and other training stages in the context of the route and rules that apply to you.

Part 3: Med3Comp and Region Dalarna
This recorded session introduces the Med3Comp project and the support described for specialist doctors educated outside the EU/EEA. Topics include practical service, language support and settling into work and life in Dalarna. This is an archived project presentation, not confirmation that applications are currently open or that its original eligibility criteria remain unchanged.

Three international doctors discuss adapting to workplace culture, patient communication and documentation. Their reflections cover expectations, job searching and the first months of clinical work in Sweden.
Turn the recordings into a study plan
- Identify your licensing route and make a list of the documents the authority currently requests.
- Assess your Swedish listening, speaking, reading and writing separately; choose practice that addresses your weakest area.
- Keep a vocabulary notebook for patient conversations, handovers and medical documentation.
- Check employer and authority requirements before choosing a test or submitting a certificate.
