Swedish for Healthcare Professionals
What level of Swedish do you need to get a license from Socialstyrelsen?
If you want to obtain a medical license (läkarlegitimation, sjuksköterskelegitimation) from Socialstyrelsen in Sweden, you must reach C1 level (CEFR) in Swedish.
At ONLINE SWEDISH, we offer a complete online program designed for healthcare professionals like doctors and nurses who plan to work in Sweden. Our C1 certificate is accepted by Socialstyrelsen as proof of language proficiency.
Our Swedish program for healthcare professionals
Our program consists of 8 courses — 7 regular Swedish courses + 1 dedicated medical course (Swedish for Medical Staff, SFM). The SFM course is compulsory if you want a certificate from us that meets Socialstyrelsen’s requirements. You can learn more about our Swedish certificate requirements for healthcare professionals→. You can choose to take the program as live virtual classes or as pre-recorded video courses with mentorship. However, two courses must be taken live in real-time: Swedish Writing & Speaking (W&S) and Swedish for Medical Staff (SFM).
You can join at your current level if you have a valid certificate for earlier levels.
Our full program typically takes 11–12 months, with flexible online lessons.

First 10 SFM sessions: focus on listening and following
